Objectives

As socially responsible corporations, Philips India Ltd., Goodera, and Hands On CSR connected to carry off the tree sapling plantation drive as an aspect of corporate social responsibility with two main objectives to achieve.

  • To plant saplings and restore the beauty of the mother earth; to reduce carbon emissions, combat global warming by absorbing carbon dioxide, preventing land from soil erosion, etc.
  • To indulge their associates in a meaningful and interactive social engagement that helps them to step out of their comfort zone, perform activities different from their daily run-of-the-mill, and connect better with nature.

Hands On CSR’s solutions

Based on the CSR aims and objectives of Philips India, Hands On CSR devised a solution to help achieve them with maximum efficiency.

A sapling plantation initiative in partnership with the BBMP (Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike) was carried out. On May 16th, 2019, associate volunteers from Philips were invited to the BBMP project site to plant saplings. 15 volunteers efficiently carried out the task of planting tree saplings at the Mallasandra, Bengaluru, BBMP project site.

Strategies to encourage participants/volunteers to collectively work and emotionally adhere to the planting process were built.

Results Achieved

Philips volunteers, in accordance with Hands On CSR, Goodera, and BBMP, could accomplish the task and produce fruitful results for all the stakeholders as desired.

25 tree saplings were productively planted in BBMP’s project site as required and were handed over to BBMP for future maintenance. The environment has been rejuvenated by planting indigenous tree saplings as a long-term investment for a greener future. These plants when grown-up shall enrich the atmosphere by producing enough oxygen to improve the air quality, reduce a long time of carbon emissions, and thus contribute a small portion in controlling global warming.

Volunteers could flexibly work on-field in an open and extensive piece of land. The pursuit proved to be a success for volunteers as they could participate in an activity contrasting to their daily corporate office grind. The initiative also impelled the volunteers to interact and work as a team to achieve a common goal.

Hands On CSR commit to greening mother earth in partnership with local communities and corporates and dedicatedly functions to achieve measurable positive results for its beneficiaries and the environment.
